We need to support Black youth organizers now more than ever…

Rethink develops the authentic leadership of youth of color in New Orleans. We support young people in seeing their personal and collective struggles in a larger political context and then translating solutions into mechanisms for change.

In 2017, Rethinkers hosted a national Young People's Movement Assembly with 70 youth organizers from around the country to create a self-determined definition of sanctuary. See our video here.

In 2018, after the Parkland school shooting, Rethinkers engaged over 130 youth from New Orleans in developing a set of demands that exposed the united states of violence. 73 youth took those demands to the Orleans Parish School Board as part of the national end school violence day of action. Their demands expanded concepts of violence from school shootings to include lunch detentions, locked bathrooms and outdated text books.
